Boston Tartan Week 2027: Scotland Returns to Boston

No Scotland, No Party. Boston is getting ready for round two.

Boston hasn’t forgotten the summer of 2026. Neither, it seems, has Scotland.

Following an unforgettable FIFA World Cup that brought the Tartan Army to the streets of Boston, Mayor Michelle Wu has announced that Tartan Week is coming to Boston in spring 2027.

From kilts and bagpipes to packed pubs and orange traffic cones atop city statues, Scottish supporters brought a spirit to Boston that left a lasting impression (check it out on Tik Tok). Now, the celebration is set to continue, marking a new chapter in the friendship between Boston and Glasgow.

And at The Dagny Boston, we’re especially looking forward to welcoming Scotland back.

From the World Cup to Tartan Week: How It All Began

When Scotland arrived in Boston for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the city found itself at the center of an extraordinary celebration.

Thousands of Scottish supporters filled downtown streets, gathered at neighborhood pubs, embraced local traditions, and created memories that extended far beyond the football pitch.

The Tartan Army’s enthusiasm became one of Boston’s most memorable stories of the summer. From Faneuil Hall to the city’s waterfront, there was no mistaking the Scottish presence.

The connection inspired more than a memorable few weeks. Boston and Glasgow have since moved toward establishing a formal sister-city relationship, recognizing the cultural ties and new friendships strengthened during the tournament.

As Mayor Wu put it in her announcement: “The party isn’t over yet.”

What to Know About Boston Tartan Week 2027

Boston’s first announced Tartan Week celebration is expected in spring 2027, with plans for Boston and Glasgow to formalize their international partnership during the festivities.

The occasion is intended to celebrate the growing friendship between the two cities and the Scottish supporters who helped inspire it.

While the official schedule, venues, and exact dates have not yet been announced, the return of Tartan Week promises another opportunity to experience the Scottish spirit that brought Boston together in 2026.

Check back as more information becomes available. We’ll continue updating this guide with confirmed event details and ways to explore Boston during Tartan Week.

A Boston Home Base for the Tartan Army

At The Dagny Boston, the World Cup was more than a moment on the city’s calendar. We had the opportunity to welcome Scottish visitors who made downtown Boston their home away from home throughout the celebrations.

Among them were Craig Ferguson and Matthew Allen, whose remarkable Tartan Trek journey brought them to Boston and helped raise awareness for charitable causes along the way.

It was a privilege to play a small part in such a memorable chapter, and we’re looking forward to seeing the friendship between Scotland and Boston continue.

Located at 89 Broad Street in Downtown Boston, The Dagny puts visitors steps from Faneuil Hall, Quincy Market, the historic waterfront, and the many pubs and gathering places that make the neighborhood worth exploring.

Whether you’re returning after an unforgettable World Cup summer or discovering Boston for the first time, our doors are open.
